Programs

ABLE continues to build and expand our portfolio of programs, events, and services as opportunities cross our path to get more involved. Our aim is to help build up the efforts of community members and other local organizations and service providers to strengthen collaboration and teamwork.

Alzheimer's Awareness

In 2018, ABLE's founder, HC Afoa Lutu, was diagnosed with Alzheimer's Disease. After realizing the lack of resources and awareness around Alzheimer's in American Samoa, ABLE set out to fill that gap. In addition to organizing festivities and programming for National Alzheimer's Awareness Month every November, ABLE aims to increase awarness, decrease stigma, advocate for patients and caregivers, and promote the advancement of research and resources for Alzheimer's.

Moso'oi Festival

In 2022, a group of local artists banded together to try and revitalize the Moso'oi Festival of Arts and Culture - a beloved annual event in American Samoa that had gone dormant. After approaching ABLE for our help with organizing, this passionate group set out to do the hard work of preserving our arts and culture and promoting local artists.

Discovering Amerika
Samoa Program

First held in 2011, the Discovering American Samoa Program is a 4- week long day camp that helps the enrolled youth learn about the island they're raised in. The program covers geography, history, government, arts, culture, and even sports to help our youth gain a dynamic and wholistic understanding of our home.
